STATISTICS
Over half a million accidents involving bikes each year are reported in the United States
out of these over 25,000 resulting in death. With half of United States having mandatory
helmet laws. Statistics show that fifty percent do not wear their helmets.
With over eighty-five million bicyclists out there in the United States alone, an average
based on statistics show that approximately half a million of these riders will visit the
hospitals each year from preventable accidents. Six hundred of these will relate to death,
and approximately seventy thousand will result in head injuries.
Eighty-seven percent of these accidents occur in urban rural districts between dusk and
dawn. According to insurance companies ninety-seven percent of these accidents
involving bicyclists are a result of side view collision. Approximately fifty-seven
percent involve children under the age of sixteen, with twenty-eight percent over the age
of twenty-five.
Now we have “Tire Fire” a 360-degree light to help with this!
Helmets are a great idea, but are only good at the time of an accident. Bike lanes are also
an excellent idea providing cars and bikes stay in there own lanes, which doesn't always
happen.
Laws state that there has to be a reflector on the bike. We are not replacing the reflector
concept but are creating awareness through “Tire Fire”. “Tire Fire the only 360-degree
light by night and reflector by day, one of its kind.
